Cocoro

Highly recommended tasting menu at Cocoro in Ponsonby, Auckland. I’ve never seen Japanese food prepared with so much care and passion like they do at Cocoro.

Everything there came with a surprising contemporary twist, whilst retaining the simple, clean flavors you’d expect from Japanese food.

Colour me impressed.

The japanese fella gave us sake, on the house - I have no problems recommending ZIPANGU Auckland.

Them: hi!

Me: hi.

Them: What’s for lunch?

Me: Kangaroo.

You’ve heard right people, Murder Burger has kangaroo sausages on their menu. Its gamey, smoky and has a salty/slightly tangy after-taste to it. I really like it.

A small tub of hollandaise sauce is also included with it, but really, I buy the sausages just for the hollandaise sauce. A Roo Burger is on offer too. But it was bland and chewy when I had it. I’ll just stick with the kangaroo sausages.

“But they’re so cute and fluffy and global warming…”. Whateva, I love my food too much.

Arguably the best pizza place so far. il buco in Ponsoby Auckland is NOT your average tomato purée, barbeque sauce and frozen ham pizza joint.

A polaroid wall montage of pizza eating customers, no more than 10 chairs, and a rustic look and feel. This place is oozing with character!

Their pizza??!! Fantastic. My favorite would have to be spinaci e gorgonzola - mozzarella, spinach, chilli and blue cheese.

They also have this drink that is made out of melted liquid chocolate. To die for, I say.

Highly recommended.
